The book "Was God on vacation" by Jack van der Geest
I think that in all the history documentaries that I have seen, all the stories I have heard, and all the articles I have read that the actual horror and reality of the holocaust was never given as accuratly or as real as in the book "Was god on vacation" by Jack van der Geest. It is the story of one of the holocaust's few survivors. It tells of the years leading up to the day when Jack and his family were discovered by the nazis and sent to the concentration camps. Then the story goes into detail of his experiences in the camps themselves. The detail in which the events described in this story are increadible. It is terrifying to learn what events took place inside the camps. It is sickening to learn how heartless, evil, and cruel that humans can become. What they did to millions of women, children, and men not for anything they did, not for anything they would do, but simply for who they were. If that is a reason to gun down a toddler, burn a woman alive, or use a man to perform horrid medical experiments, than it goes to show what can happen to the human spirit when overcome power, hate, and greed.

Today's education
It is increadible what has happened to the teachers in todays schools. I'm not saying that way back in the days where teachers could paddle students was right either. I think that it is a total mindblower that students can actually sit in front of their teachers and talk about things like big drinking parties, smoking illegal substances and sex and that the teachers reaction will be to join in the conversation!!! Even make jokes with them like "So what did you drink, I can drink that stuff and not even get affected" and I have actually seen teachers joke about teen sex. I once heard a teacher say "Did she squeal when you screwed her"? And another big trend among some of todays teachers is to find their favorites and sort out the ones who are not. I have seen kids starting fights in the class to the point where they were knocking desks everywhere and almost hurting others in their way, but since they are the favorites the teacher the teacher just says calmly while almost laughing "Aww cut it out guys" then they ignore the teacher and go back to their fighting and wont get yelled at again. And weather it be cussing, screaming, making obscene sexual gestures and comments, or even just leaving and not coming back till the end of the period, the favorites have earned such a high pedestal that they will never see punishment. Yet the kids who are not favorites can meet ridiculously harsh punishment for having a conversation to loudly after the teacher was done with class. I have actually seen kids who are favorites get good grades beacause the teacher figures that they are really smart and deserve the grade, But as for the hard working, decent student, you have to bend over backwards to get a halfway decent grade while the other gets complimented for doing litterally nothing!! The teaching standards today are in a sad state. It is hard to imagine it can get worse, but I still feel that the worst is on its way. The day where teachers flunk hard working non-favorites, and ace the ones who did absolutely nothing is not far from here. Not only this, but it is also a fact that some teachers are not to blame. Due to underpayment in some cases, the teachers get scared and refuse to teach, thus leaving the student uneducated in the purpose of the class. Then on graduation day, diplomas are handed out like free samples at a mini-mart. The issuing of diplomas in some school has become almost a manditory process even when the students academic potential is at an astonishing minimum. So until school systems around the globe begin to shape up and crack down, the real, functioning world will continue to recieve unprepared, uneducated, and potentialy dangerous new civilians that will bring dowm society as a result of ignorance.
